In a collaborative effort between more than 70 organizations spanning Wales and the North West, a significant job expo is set to return, presenting a plethora of career opportunities for job seekers. The event, organized in partnership with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), and supported by Creating Enterprise, Conwy Business Support, and Working Wales, will take place at The Barn, Eirias Events Centre in Colwyn Bay on Thursday, February 22, from 1 pm to 5 pm.
The Conwy Job Expo, expected to draw over 500 attendees of all ages, aims to connect job seekers with a diverse array of employment possibilities. In preparation for the main event, a live workshop will be conducted at Jobcentre Plus in Bayview Shopping Centre on Tuesday, February 6, from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm. Libby Duo, the Strategic Manager for Conwy Employment Hub, emphasized the importance of the pre-expo sessions, stating, "These sessions will give anyone wanting to attend the chance to sharpen their skills before meeting the prospective employers in attendance." She added that being fully prepared is beneficial for both job seekers and potential employers, as some organizations will be conducting interviews and meeting candidates on the day.
Jane Cook, the DWP’s Employer and Partnership Manager for Conwy, expressed excitement about the participating organizations, noting, "Once again, we have some of the top public and private sector organizations in the region – and beyond – exhibiting at what has become the number one jobs and careers fair in North Wales." Cook highlighted that in addition to seeking potential hires, organizations will showcase their operations and why individuals should consider working for them.
The diverse range of exhibitors includes the British Army Careers Centre, Thorncliffe Building Supplies, HB Leisure, HMP Berwyn, Alpine Travel, Supertemps, Maximus UK, Zip World, Prime Cymru, North Wales Police, GYG Karting, Excell Supply, ALG Security, The Imperial Hotel in Llandudno, EvadX, Airbus, the RAF, St Kentigern Hospice, and many more.
